Cream

I knew I was home when I saw her,

Flowers in her hair, heaven in her eyes,

I knew she was real,

Because she made me feel.

A soul so profound, that moment, like cream.

Monday

I want to have coffee with you on a Monday morning,

Let’s sit down at the break of dawn and talk,

It’s been a while,

I want to see the dimple in your left cheek when you smile.

I want to watch you frown when you talk,

Or how you shake your left leg,

Ten minutes into a conversation…

It’s been a while.

I want to have coffee with you on a Monday morning,

Just like we used to.

Mirror

We always come to this,

This moment, this time, this look

You and I.

We always come to this,

This feeling, this thought, this touch

You and I.

We always come to this,

I bet you’ll come after me,

hunt me down, burn the whole world to the ground,

as soon as I start loving somebody else.

You always come to this,

This moment, this feeling, this fear…

You.

Truth

I look for you in the lies I tell myself.

I am better off without you,

I deserve better than you,

I can live without you.

When my anger has walked out the door,

Fear settles in, she takes a mug of coffee,

Sits beside me and watches me.

Her eyes dig into my soul,

My soul has long known not to hide from her,

Because the soul knows better, fear loves a mirror

This way she does not spend the night.

I look for you in the lies I tell myself,

because it is easier to set them aside than it is to face the truth.

If

I am not this person,

I just enjoy playing her once in a while.

So, if you, my love are truly sorry,

Then let your remorse be accompanied by a book,

Or books.

I could plant a garden of flowers,

So, no more red roses or white roses,

Say ‘sorry’ and add ‘I got you this!’

My love, if…if truly you are sorry,

Then do as you wish, and hope that I’m pleased.

If…
